Denture Breaks and Crazy Glue

Many people who break their dentures think that Crazy Glue is the solution; nothing could be further from the truth!  What people don’t realize is that when a denture breaks the only way for your denturist to properly repair the denture and get the  broken piece(s) back in the exact location it was prior to the break is by using denture acrylic.

When Crazy Glue is used it actually creates a barrier between the two pieces of acrylic and will only hold for a short period of time.  Once any saliva or liquid gets in to where the crazy glue was placed the denture will re-break.  Most people will then use crazy glue again and again this will cause a further space between the two broken pieces of denture.   At some point the crazy glue will no longer work to hold the denture together at all and that’s when the individual ends up at our office.  We then have to explain to the person that the denture is  not repairable to its original state and we can only repair the denture to where the crazy glue was holding it and at times that we cannot repair the denture at all and a new one is then required.  Not to mention that Crazy Glue is not for internal use!
